Mackinnon Lawrence is founder of Aroko Intelligence, an AI-native research firm where he works at the intersection of the energy transition, AI infrastructure, and geopolitical risk, and publisher of the Aroko Letter. For over 20 years, he has advised startups, OEMs, utilities, investors, and international organizations on the technologies and macro forces reshaping energy, from the grid edge to geopolitics.

Previously, Mackinnon led Guidehouse Insights (formerly Navigant Research, formerly Pike Research), growing the organization to be a global authority on power and renewables, utility and grid innovation, intelligent building technologies, smart cities, and mobility. He co-developed the Energy Cloud, a framework used industry-wide to describe the sector’s transformation, and led Guidehouse's decade-running State and Future of the Power Industry survey, published jointly with Public Utilities Fortnightly.
